Z'd frame and manual trans questions
If I z my frame 3 inchs in the front and raise the trasmission, what do I do about the clutch linkage? Will it continue to work correctly , do I have to ditch it (I don't want to) or do leave the transmission alone and lower the motor mounts (is that possible to do 3 inchs?) I have the motor out and forgot to measure the motor to crossmember clearence.
Thanks Andy |

Re: Z'd frame and manual trans questions
I would say you will need to switch to a hydraulic set-up or modify the stock linkage. My guess is the hyd clutch would be easier to do.

Re: Z'd frame and manual trans questions
Yes hydraulic clutch would make things a lot easier. They came stock on '60-'62 trucks. I thought about ditching my hydraulic clutch but decided to keep it considering I also Z'd my frame 3". Do you have a column shift or floor shift trans.? I have a column shift trans, so I also have to figure out what to do with the shift linkages that go to the trans.

Re: Z'd frame and manual trans questions
I have a floor shift trans, I got to thinking, If I lower the motor 1 1/2 inchs and raise the transmission 1 1/2 inchs That will even it out and I might get away with using stock linkage by just adjusting it, Never know till I try though
