What did you get done? 11/19
This was my weekend off and I got a lot done. The weather was awesome so I took advantage of it. Friday night I took the family to dinner so I could have that weekend obligation fulfilled. Saturday I went and toured our new Church building then picked up my 04 Dodge at the body shop. I had the front bumper cap and mirrors repainted and the whole truck buffed out. Then I went and had the Snuglid put back on. It had been shipped back to Snugtop because of defective paint. They did an awesome job of making it look like a new one.
Saturday night I took the wife out to dinner then in the 77 then we went to the local car s cruise. This was the last night for the season so the turn out was huge. They set an all time record with a fitting number of 427 cars and trucks. Sunday after church I started detailing my Dodge to get it ready to sell. Then I spent some time cleaning up my 06 Crewcab. The whole while I was making plans for what I want to do to the 77 over the winter.... What did you get done?

Nothing on big blue, but got my go-cart put back together. Still trying to find a source for bolts stronger than 5/8" by 6.5" grade 8 hardened, i've broken 2 of those beasts.

Not a whole lot. But, I did install at LED strip on the rear end. I have been plagued with dim tail lights (and stoped by the po po). My original lights seemed brighter once I hooked up the LED strip Not sure if I like it yet.

Re: What did you get done? 11/19
I pickup a dresser Friday night and then delivered it on Sat. Sat afternoon I cleaned up the yard a bit and started rebuilding a play house/swingset for my daughter.. didnt get it done but got it in its place and may work on it over Thanksgiving holiday. Today I worked and relaxed as I wasnt feeling real well. Plan on working on the 87 pretty hard next weekend as I will have atleast 3 free days and the weather should be in the 70s... I plan on replacing the core support/radiator.. and the hood from the 82.. as well as putting the speakers in the 87.. maybe even the bench seat... depends on how the core support/radiator instal goes...

I washed the truck today but im still waiting on some parts for my air suspension. I ordered two electric fans and will be fabricating the mount to replace my curent setup. Friday after work we laid out the design for my table and got done around 8 o'clock. All four colors have a real heavy metallic that didnt show up in the pics.

Re: What did you get done? 11/19
I worked late again until the wee hours on Fri night/Sat morning & then had to be back Sat until about 2pm. After leaving work, I went to the garage & continued the final welding on my notched front crossmember conversion for my 68.
Today & did more final stripping & general cleaning/prep for some chassis paint & got the holes drilled for mounting the air-bags. Hopefully I'll have the front 'clip' assembled & painted by next weekend & then get the motor/trans installed. Getting closer..... Oh, I also got an offer to swap my 74 for an 02 ZX12R Kawasaki. Muzzy exhaust, ECU/programmer, carbon fiber fenders/panels. I wasn't really looking but.......

I washed my truck after parking it under a tree full of birds - then for the first time ever, she got a wax! Looks great, I've never waxed anything but I'd say I did okay. Very very tedious process, but she is shining

Re: What did you get done? 11/19
I headed south, and grabbed myself a gorgeous rust free cab, front clip, and spare set of fenders for a steal of a deal at 300 bucks
The cab is an AC cab, and is obviously virgin, never been patched before. It's also a high hump cab, so the cab will be getting stripped and primed, then dropped onto my 80 My 80's current cab will have it's corners replaced, and the high hump replaced with a low hump (unboltable) then will be dropped onto my 77 along with a pair of the fenders I grabbed, and my 74 core support. That truck will also be rust free then, and will recieve a very quick paint job, and put on the market. This also means that once I get my shocks on, and my fuel fill finished, and an old junk box bolted on, I can register and insure my 80 once again, and hit the road with it, then just replace parts as I finish the bodywork on them

Re: What did you get done? 11/19
Bought some battery cable crimpers and made new 1/0 cables for pos. & neg. Installed the cables & a new battery in the '79. It fired right up after sitting almost a year but would not move under it's own power . I think it's a lack of tranny fluid--will check it out after work today.

Re: What did you get done? 11/19
Spent some of saturday re-wiring the rear brake lights and turn signals on the 76. Seems I could get one or the other to work properly but not all of them. So I just got a trailer wire harness and went from the firewall back, all work perfectly now. The factory harnes was toasted in quite a few spots on finial inspection.
I spent early sunday crusing the new to me Harley. The rest of the day I attempted to figure out how to attach a "universal" sprayer to the kitchen sink. $80 worth of parts latter, 3 trips to lowes and a $120 new faucet that the guy at lowes said would work with the sprayer I was wanting to use it still doesent fit.

Re: What did you get done? 11/19
Well its been a long time since I've worked on my truck. I've been watching the board but with nothing to post. Well I finally got the one piece window thing figured out and I'm embarassed to say all it needed was one of the brackets to be bent. The front guide bracket just needed to be bent out towards the out side of the door. There is a gap at the front of the window but there is no way arond that, the kit includes all the weathe stripping to close the gap. other then that the kit is awsome. I also got my new rims and tires mounted this week end. I've been waiting a while for the tires I ran in to some $$ problem (my 1960 Impala) So now that my Impala is near finished its back to my true love. Now that the rims are mounted I can see how low my truck can go. With the Scotts Hotrods IFS I can cruise (low speed)with the pinch 2" off the ground the ride height of 4" off the ground and max height of 7.25". At ride height I can have full turn radius that was my major concern. Now that I have everything as far as ride height, and tire clearance, I can start boxing in the frame and paint it. I hope to have it done by end of December so I'll keep you guys up to date.

Re: What did you get done? 11/19
I didnt get as much done as I had hoped but im satisfied with what I got to. I went to the Moultrie swap meet on Friday, visited with Uncle for a while and bought some needed items from Tim Christian and also picked up a throttle body for the LT1 thats going in the '70. I spent the daylight hours on Saturday changing ALL the fluids and filters on the '73 Blazer as well as new pads and rotors...you should have seen the right side rotor that I took off.

Re: What did you get done? 11/19
Friday night I went out with a group of my wifes coworkers and their husbands. a few of us drank way too much.
Saturday i decided it was time to put the drop on the 96 Blazer I picked up a few weeks ago. I got the drop all finished and bolted on the new(to me) wheels I picked up last week. turned out pretty sweet. Im much happier with it now. Sunday I decided to detail the blazer before the weather gets bad. so i washed and waxed it and polished the wheels. Tomorrow its off to the alignment shop...so I can start driving it again. |

Re: What did you get done? 11/19
I finally got around to replacing my broken and faded factory grille with a nice aluminum billet grille model #40071 from Carriage Works. $85 shipped to my door from the factory, and this thing fits like a glove! I am still learning alot about the available aftermarket, but I can't imagine a better product of this type.
after: before: not too long after taking delivery:
