k30 axles

I just got a really good deal on an 86 K30 single wheel truck. its got a d60/14ff/sm465/205. my daily driver is an 87 k10. i already switched the stick and 205 into it and i got a 4:10 14ff from a 2wd truck and a d44hd from a buddy. when i went to put the 14ff into the truck i found out i needed to move the spring perches. is the rumor correct that i will need to move the perches on the k30 axles too? i was kinda oping it would just bolt up. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

Re: k30 axles

1 ton (k30) trucks do have the spring perches in a different location. Chances are you got a 1 ton 14b if you had to move the perches on your first 14bolt. I'd say if the gearing is the same and your current 14b is in good working order, keep it and sell the new one. If the gearing is different, move the perches and install the new one, it would still be cheaper that new bearings to swap the gearset over.

The D60 will bolt in, but you need the spring plates where the u-bolts bolt up to. They are different than the D44 type.
