nice 66 project-but no title
Hey guys, Thanks to those who answered my last question. I now know this is a 66 long stepside. It is mostly disassembled but is 98% rust free. I hate to pass this up. Found it sitting in a storage facility. The problem is the seller got the truck from his grandfather-in-law and never switched the title, (mississippi title), now here in Florida and missplaced but probably lost the original title. Seller says he will contact 85 year old grandfather to request lost title from miss dmv. Fl dmv says I have to get a title. What happens when titles are lost and the owner of title can't be found? I think I'm going to buy the truck anyway($600) and worry about paperwork later. The truck is disassembled but complete and no rust is almost unheard of down here. You're knowledge would be appreciated.

Here in Cali if you know who the owner is you can file for a duplicate pink. Ask what to do when you have lost the tittle.

Re: nice 66 project-but no title
My advice is not to buy the truck without the title. Once you have the truck, the previous owner will have no incentive to provide a title without being sued. There are ways to get titles with an out of state bill of sale, but they aren't legally recognized in all states.

Yup.. That would be the easiest.. Or you could go on-line.
http://www.dmv.org/ If you buy the truck, you'll most likely still be able to transfer the title and all that stuff. It will just take jumping threw a few hoops.. With no title, I would only pay $300 Elias |

Re: nice 66 project-but no title
Let me tell you what a guy I know did. In exchange for dragging it off, he was given a vehicle with no title. He went to the DMV and told a SMALL LIE. He told DMV " I purchased a piece of property and the vehicle was on it. I want to fix it up to drive." He provided the VIN and the DMV issued him a title.
