I have the chance to buy a comlete 454 BB and TH400 out of a 1985 Suburban for $750. Any Idea what it is worth.

if it runs and dont knock,,that a good deal,,or at least i would buy it..especially since its got the tranny to..but if you do,,make sure you change all the gaskets,,my 84 454 leaks like sieve...the only thing is be careful since its on the ground..especially if you dont know who your getting it from...basicly you got to trust who your getting it from...i was told my 454 was worth more than i gave for the whole truck..i only gave 650 for my truck,,and its in decent shape...so i would take the chance and get it..but thats just me..do you know how many maiels are on it..you might want to change the timeing chain out to if you buy it...

Thanks that is what I was thinking. I wanted the transmission and they go for about 400 and I figured I would get a BB with it.

Will they let you pull the heads first? I'd at least put a bar on the snout and turn it at least 2 full revolutions to be sure that nothing is broken inside. If it turns ok at least you have a good builder if nothing else. It hasn't been setting out with that carb open to the weather has it?
