85 Silverado for a grand, good deal?

Hey guys, I came across a 85' 2wd longbox Silverado w/ 305 and THM350... 98K orginial miles on it. The interior is mint, seat is in awesome shape, still has the factory radio, has full gauges (with the clock)... this was an older gentleman's truck. Exterior is pretty good, some surface rust on the bed rails and one dent in the driver's side door. Comes with a bedliner if I'd want it. Runs OK once warmed up... I think the carb is in serious need of a rebuild. Has a current inspection. He is asking $1000 for it... do you guys think this is a fair price?

Sounds like a fair price depending on the dent and surface rust.

Well, called him and got it for $900 cash...

Nope, no need to pass emissions here. Figured we run farm use tags on it for a while until we feel it is ready to be driven further.

Re: 85 Silverado for a grand, good deal?

By the time we got her home last night it was dark... Hopefully I can get some tonight. Runs really good actually... I was surprised it has as much power as it does.

Going to rip the smog pump and some other BS off of it and add a tach. Debating on whether to debuild the quadrajet or use the Holley 600 that we have in the shed.

good score. The holly might be a good match and you already have it. 305 is a good old motor with a few bolt ons not as nice off the batt as a 350 but they can gbe made nice Sounds like a sweet truck lookingforward to them pics. Also welcome to the 73-87!
