Stepside Tailight Question
I purchased some 1973 stepside tail lights from LMC for my truck. The connector on the light has the same sex connector as the connector on the truck. My son has a 74 and the connector on the light is the same sex also. Does anyone know where I could get the correct lights with the correct connector? Or maybe purchase the correct connector and install it on the light. The light needs to have the 2 female spade lugs instead of male. I also purchased a couple of backup light and they needed to be a single female and they came with a round male plug. Do any of you know where to get the correct lights with the correct connector?

Re: Stepside Tailight Question
Just upgrade to LED units....that's what I did. Don't you love it when parts aren't the way they should be??? Just hit up the autoparts store....or the junk yard to get the right plugs and splice into your wiring harness.

Re: Stepside Tailight Question
Call LMC and tell them what you have and ask then to verify if they have the correct part for your truck and send them the wrong ones back.
If not do what stepside 454 said and send the bad ones back to LMC. mcssls, I think that he wants to keep the stock look and function of the original design of the tail light assembly. |

Re: Stepside Tailight Question
I sent them back to LMC and talked to them and they didn't seem to know they were wrong. I really didn't want to splice them if I didn't have to. I have talked to several other aftermarket vendors and they all had the wrong plugs on them. I will check the carquest website and see what they have. Thanks for the help. I have been looking at the truck stops at the round LED tail lights and have been thinking about trying to make the guts out of one work. Still just a thought right now though. I talked to several Chevrolet dealers in the area and they discontinued them about 10 years ago. The only part you can get from them is the lens for the backup light.

Re: Stepside Tailight Question
Here's some pics of what mine look like. I made brackets that bolt into the stock holes....as well and one hole from the reverse light bracket. I'm not running the reverse lights....I think they look too cluttered. I used cheap $13 ones from a tow truck supply. The brand is Maxxima. Pics:
