Removing Body From Frame
I've decided that it would be easier to work on my truck if the body were removed from the frame. That will allow easier access to the various front suspension components, and I can spray paint the frame to prevent rust. Anyhow, I'd like some input as to how to go about lifting the body off the frame. I don't have a lift or anything, so what are some shadetree-mechanic ways that have proven effective for you?
I have tow straps, chains, and come-alongs. |

Re: Removing Body From Frame
I used my friends to help with this task. Took three of us for the bed, and three of us (should have been four) for the cab.

Re: Removing Body From Frame
There are a few threads on this in the 67-72 section.
I have removed and replaced my '67 Cab a few times by myself. I use a Cherry picker, a 2x6 places through the door openings and a 2.5" rachet tie down strap. I use the cherry picker from the top of the roof (outside). Some have rigged a brace that goes inisde the cab and you use the cherry picker from the inside. Both methods work great Of course, if you have 2-3 buddies, that is the best route for a bare cab |
