I Got A 85 Lwb Today

I went ahead and picked up a lwb today. I runs pretty good. It has some smog crap on it(pump). I'm gonna remove it and see if it frees up somemore power. It has a fresh (cheap) paint job. The P.O. said he had the heater core replaced. He also said he replaced the tranny with a used one. It shifts out fine, but I'll see how long that will last. The windows work but slow as usual. Door locks work as well. The vent window whitsles. On the ride home I noticed a little vibration around 45mph, so I suspect it could need some Ujoints soon. The dash has a small crack. The seat is torn, but three weeks ago I saw the same seat in the salvage yard. I doubt it's still there, but I'm going back to see. It has a dual magnaflow exhaust system that sounds really tame through cast iron manifolds. Maybe some headers will wake it up. I don't know what it all needs as of yet. Next weekend I'll try and go over it a little more thoroughly. I paid 2K for it. I'm glad I got it. I really need to get my swb back on the road.

Re: I Got A 85 Lwb Today

Looks like a good solid truck. Hope you don't find anything bad wrong with it.

By the way, what part of the state are you in that still has a good junk yard? All the good ones around here have closed.

Have fun!
Al

I had an 83 the same color. It had an I6. Ran great.

Nice find. The exterior looks great.

Re: I Got A 85 Lwb Today

I'm in North Little Rock. We have a good amount of salvage yards here. Oh yeah I did find the owners manual in the glove box. No dual tanks. Needs headliner replaced(droopy). Cracked windsheild.
