Have To Say Good Bye To My '64 Fleetside LB

This is a bummer.. I can't figure out anyway to keep my '64. I have to fix my daily driver which may cost about $1,500 in total. I don't think I can justify keeping it since the money I get from selling it will be put into my daily driver..

The only way I can justify keep it is if I could get at least 20 MPGs from the '64 Truck..

This sucks... I originally thought that it would be a cool daily or every other day driver..

Also, any ideas how much I can get for it?? 64, V8 350, auto trans.. Starts and runs great.. There is damage to the driver door and rocker panel..

I would sell it on ebay so hopfuly a few people would get in a bidding war and get you as much as possible. What is your daily driver? what is wrong with it? I shure hate for you to have to sell.

Re: Have To Say Good Bye To Me '64 Fleetside LB

My DD is a 99 Jeep Cherokee. I need a whole new exhaust system from the header to tail pipe.. At least I can RMA the header.. The transfer case needs work. And a lot more smaller stuff that adds up. I off-road it a lot.

The truck runs good. It would be cool to have it as my back up vehicle when I break my Jeep..

I'm still trying to think of a good and reasonable excuse to keep it. I just got a notice to suspend my truck registration if I don't get insurance in a couple of weeks..

Very Cool.. I frequent NAXJA all the time.. I don't know much the exhaust will cost because it has to be a custom fit. No one makes an after market head pipe for my year - 99.. What's your NAXJA screen name?? Mine is Eliasj123

I second the e bay route you can place a resrve on it so you dont have to sell it for less then what you want. I also say to bad it is a nice looking truclk, you'll regret it if you sell it.......been there done that. good luck.

So you off road your jeep and when you brake stuff on it you need to sell other things to get the money to fix it. I know off roading is fun but it does take it's toll on parts. It's just my opinion but if it were me I would sell the jeep and put the cash into the '64 because either way you are going to be constantly putting money in one or the other. A street truck doesn't brake as much as an off road truck does.

Re: Have To Say Good Bye To Me '64 Fleetside LB

you know bishops has a point you could sell the jeep and use the money to make your truck more feul efishant. there is carb spacers, econamy cams, high rize intakes, and even a bolt on feul injection systom. you say you can keep it if you can get 20mpg. A friend of mine told me a man he built a stock 283 fore gets 18mpg. And you can replace the jeep eazy. 60 - 66 trucks are getting harder to fiend and more expencive all the time. And most of all DO NOT use your dd for an off road toy. sure you can sell your truck to fix it this time. but what about next time. there you will be with a broken 4x4 and no way to fix it, AND NO TRUCK TO GET TO WORK IN. You need a justifiable reason to keep both? EAZY.... every one should have 2 forms of transpertation at all times. no mater what year, make, or condition, every auto brakes down from time to time, and if it's your only car, your walking.

Re: Have To Say Good Bye To Me '64 Fleetside LB

I appreciate everyone's feedback and knew that I would get some good suggestions and opinions here.. I haven't committed to the idea of selling the '64 yet..

So, here's the full or most of the story..... I need to keep my Jeep for off-roading because I film off-roading events and trail runs.. I'm an independent, so that means that I don't have a company to help fix the Jeep when it breaks. And, I'm putting all my own money into these projects. It may be a couple of years before I start seeing a profit or even breaking even. So, I don't off-road my Jeep hard, but I still need to still get out there.

Also, I have a '55 Chevy Sedan in the garage that's in 10 times better condition than the '64 truck..

hmmm.. Well, if I could get a quick paint job on it to make it look better, that could buy me some more time. But, my body-work skills are just... hmmmm like crap..

I'm still on the fence, but leaning toward keeping it now...

Thanks.. More input is Welcomed..

...well you might try getting some kind of atv/bike/atc..put that in the back of your truck so you can go the distance, and use the atv or what ever to "get out there" and do your photo thing...then write the whole thing off your taxes....

Re: Have To Say Good Bye To Me '64 Fleetside LB

Alright.. I'm a little happier now.. I have work on my daily driver and it'll be out of commission for about two weeks.. So, it looks like I'm going to have to drive the '64 around

I just need to slap some cheap paint on it...
