i cannot belive this
i found out the other day my dad had a 72 cheyenne super with a factory big block 400 2WD long box almost every option you could get in it and he was gonna give it a new paint job and do all the body work and he was really into it and he was gonna keep it for ever and the body shop guy said to him "theres no point in puttin workin to that truck its never gonna be worth anything" or somthing along those lines so he traded it for some 82 4x4 which got beaten to heck and then traded again
i was almost in tears when i heard that |

When I was knee high to a grasshopper, my father used to have a '63 Chevy II wagon. I still remember that car and wish I had it. He traded it in for a new '71 Volvo wagon.

Yep, My dad swapped a '71 Challenger, 440 w/ 6pack and 4spd, for a huge concrete slab on the side of his house so he could park the boat on it! I still miss that car.

Re: i cannot belive this
That sucks dude, and my dad had a 1970 Badwin Motion Camaro that was in great shape and he bought it for $2000 and sold for about $1500 but that was in the early 80's. My dad also had a lot of other camaros, Chevelles and impalas. He also had and still has a 69 camaro that came with the Muncie
M-22 "Rock Crusher" and gave it to a friend. I wish he still had all those cars. At least he kept a couple. He still has the 67 camaro ss, 68 camaro rs, 69 camaro ss, 74 nova, and 72 z28.

Re: i cannot belive this
How about a Red 65 GT350 fastback with a balanced and blueprinted 289, Munie 4 speed, chrome reverse wheels with baby moons. I bought it when I was 15 and my Dad made me sell it right after I turned 16. He said it was cuz I got too many tickets in it (I only got 6 or 7). Then come to find out he had gotten over 25. I think I got $750.oo for it back in 75.
NOW THAT SUCKS....

Re: i cannot belive this
In the`80s you could buy muscle cars for $2-3,000.I bought a`65 tri-power 4spd GTO for $2,500.My helper bought a`70 GTO conv. 455HO 4spd for the same since it wasn`t such a vintage body.
My dad had a`36 Ford Coupe w/dual carbs&pipes and a 3/4 grind cam,a`49 Ford Woody,`49 Buick Torpedoback...Thousands?The cars were a few hundred bucks...

Re: i cannot belive this
My pops has had probably 20+ 67-68 firebirds. Some hardtops, some ragtops, and even a couple 69's. This was back in the 80's, he said they were cheap, easy to work on, and fun to drive. Rust killed the majority of them (NY cars.) He still has a 67 hardtop, 68 ragtop, and 68 ragtop sprint. All are in desperate need of restoration. He sold a real nice red '68 when I was little.

Re: i cannot belive this
I paid $650 for my 1972 Malibu in 1984. I still got it. No it isn't for sale.
I paid $1100 for my 1971 Malibu convertible in 1989. I still got it. No it isn't for sale. When I bought the 72 I was 16 and needed a car to drive. Back then 70-72 Chevelles were treated like my 1994 Escort is today. Slightly rusty, worn out, old cars, one owner away from the bone yard.

Re: i cannot belive this
My dad had a 67 Chevelle SS with a 396 in it that he bought new when he got out of the service. Still kicks himself for getting rid of it.
All my friends in High School back in the 80's had muscle cars and got 'em cheap; GT 350, GTO, Le Mans, Chevelle. I could have bought a 67 Firebird in darn good condition for $500 but my dad wouldn't let me cause he was afraid I'd get in trouble with it. He was right but it still fires me up. |

Re: i cannot belive this
hahha, we still have most of our cars. One in particular (still have but in horrible shape) is a 1957 150 V8 car, california frame. rare, but got rolled twice. One of the ones you guys will like is a completely orignal 1956 2wd pickup, not a lick of rust, never been outside, low mileage all original. Still has the 6cyl 3 speed on the tree. That and about 150 other toys. If i only had the time.

My buddy has an original 67 Chevelle SS427 4 speed posi.He bought it brand new in 1966 with money saved from a paper route. It has an aftermarket intake headers and a cam.I know the manifolds and intake are in the trunk.86,000 miles on it.Wont take 10 times the 2,800.00 he paid for it either.
