What bumpers do y'all have on your off roaders?
I searched and didnt come back with any results
So,What bumpers do y'all have on your off roaders? My stock front bumper can no longer go on the truck and was thinking of upgrading.I want one that is compatible with a winch. So,show off your bumpers....As you can see from my avatar,my truck is bumperless. I am just looking for front bumper pics, but if you have some that match front and back, and want to show the rear bumper pics too, thats fine. Last edited by 1969k10stepside; 01-31-2007 at 03:50 PM. |

Re: What bumpers do y'all have on your off roaders?
Why cant you use stock front bumper? Body lift issues? I've always liked the look of the stock front bumpers so I built a new front crossmember to raise the frame horns and mount a front receiver. Rear bumper is a basic drop bumper for a 73+ truck.

Re: What bumpers do y'all have on your off roaders?
The previous owner cut the majority of the frame off the front about up to the rad suports so he could mount a snowplow. I think I have some frame horns to weld on but if I go with a custom bumper and dont need the stock mounts I will save myself the time.I also had a body lift on it,but I removed it,for now atleast. The body lift was off when I took the pic in my avatar

Re: What bumpers do y'all have on your off roaders?
I am still trying to figure out what I want to do about a front winch bumper myself. More times than not I need a winch to get out of a jamb than further into one so the first winch bumper went on the rear. Now I just need the winch!

Re: What bumpers do y'all have on your off roaders?
I asked the same thing about bumpers last week in the Blazer forum:
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=224334 I'm not into stock bumpers... always handy to have something to hook to & crash into stuff with!!! Last edited by fun in dirt; 01-31-2007 at 06:36 PM. |

Re: What bumpers do y'all have on your off roaders?
No bumper for me currently. My old one was held on by only 3 out of the 6 bolts and clanged like a large cow bell. DirtyLarry didn't want me to go on our last trail run with my bumper clanging.
Mine looks pretty good without it, but I plan on building some kind of bumper, with winch capability.

I have been looking around too, this is a bumper I like:
Anyone know who builds it?

Re: What bumpers do y'all have on your off roaders?
Any 73-up winch bumper will have the correct mount spacing. It will need to be moved forward a coupled inches due to the slight "V" shape on the 67/72s compared to the 73/87s.
All you need is some c-channel for brackets and a pipe of tubular steel welded to it.I made one from 2x6 mounted verticle, straight between the frame rails, then I cut "v"s and come-alonged the ends back(w/a cinder block for a spacer in the center),and welded the "v"s.I trimmed the edges, got some diamond plate cut and bent for the top and ends.It cost aroumd $100.That truck is gone.

Re: What bumpers do y'all have on your off roaders?
Way to blow the dust off this thread!
Those bumpers are pretty common. I know of a couple locally not being used. I've seen them on both the 67-72's and the 73+ body styles. Bet you could find one at your local pick-a-part and finish it up.

Re: What bumpers do y'all have on your off roaders?
No need to pay for my time. But I'm out of town for another week. I can snap a shot or 3 of the one on my buddy's '85 blazer. That one would be the most convenient for me to get to when I get back.

Re: What bumpers do y'all have on your off roaders?
72longbed,
I have not forgotten about you, but I have not been able to snap the photos I promised you. My buddy stored his blazer out of town and I did not see the other 2 trucks that sport the bumper you wanted pics of. Im sorry for wasting your time sir. If I can I will swing out to the farm later this week and get that blazer pictured but I can't promise now. -steve

Re: What bumpers do y'all have on your off roaders?
Hey Steve, no problem at all. I totally understand and appreciate you trying for me.
I would love to find one of those "original built for our style truck" winch bumpers for sale some day. I believe Warn made one or two styles for 67-72 trucks and so did another winch company? Can't think of the name right now. Well ... I'll keep lookin' ... and thanks again. 72longbed |

Re: What bumpers do y'all have on your off roaders?
That's what I was thinking he was looking for. They fit the Warn 8274 in them nicely. Typical foot in mouth situation, I claim to see them all over and now I can't find one. Figures.

Re: What bumpers do y'all have on your off roaders?
The Blazen HD bumper is a nice on,similar to the older styles:
http://www.blazenoffroad.com/store/B...Tire-Carriers/ I was just thinkin' the other day that I hadn't seen you here for a while. What,is the ranch keeping you busy or something? Go figure. Just wanted to say, nice bumping into you. Aw jeez...corny.

Re: What bumpers do y'all have on your off roaders?
JRDV,
look at post #8 of this thread .... that's what I'm looking for! I like the built-in turn signals and just the overall scale and design I think is more 'correct' for 67-72 body styles. Offers more length out to the sides for some frontal fender protection too. Picture #13 isn't bad either. Needs to go out to the fender sides more. Well .... anybody has one collecting dust in the barn or garage .... give me a shout. Thanks. |

is that winch bumper on your white truck made by Ramsey? If not, do you know who made it? Thanks. |
