Broken manifold bolts....Need help....
i am trying to pull my exhaust manifold off of the 350 and got 2 broken bolts.
i tried to spray a ton of WD 40 beforehand and also tried to heat them up but no help....they broke anyways. I went to sears and bought those drill out extractors but they are not working that great. i guess because they're just too tight on the head or something. i feel like the extractor might break if i give it one more turn. also thought about taking the head off with the manifold on but there are 2 bolts behind the middle of the exhaust manifold that don't have enough clearance to come out. anyone got some much needed ideas or suggestions is greatly appreciated. |

Re: Broken manifold bolts....Need help....
Are the bolts broken off below the bolt head? If so you may be able to pry gently the manifold away from the head. Then a small pipe wrench will fit on the bolt shaft.Heat the bolt and spray WD or a better product(PB Blaster is one) on it you may have some luck rocking the bolt slightly.Tighten just enough to put pressure on it then loosen the same way. This may loosen the rust enough to let the penetrant work it's way into the threads.

Re: Broken manifold bolts....Need help....
Once you get the manifold off, I bet the bolts will come right out. Ill bet the manifold is warped & holding the bolts...
