Power Brake Push Rod question ....
Are the push rods that run from the pedal to the booster "fulcrum" (for lack of a better word) shorter for '67/'68 than they are for the 69-72's?
My Dad and I were hangin' out this afternoon working on buttoning up the last of the brake stuff and it seems the push rod is shorter than what I remember. In order to get the rod to bolt up to the pedal, then the pedal has to be about half way thru it's travel. I have a set of brackets that came off a 67-68 but am using the 69-70 booster brackets and am thinking we got the shorter rod mixed up and have lost the longer one ... that is, IF there is a difference. Anyone know if there are different lengths? Thanks. Last edited by Shane; 03-03-2007 at 06:53 PM. |

Re: Power Brake Push Rod question ....
Thanks Rat .... I have both sets of brackets, and am pretty sure I am using the 1/2 ton bracket ... but the push rod seems short.
Does anyone know if there are two different length push rods? Thanks. |

Re: Power Brake Push Rod question ....
they should be the same.
it's the brackets that make up the difference of the rod coming out of the rear of the booster. the 1/2 ton booster has the long rod . the 3/4 ton booster has a shorter rod Last edited by rage'nrat638; 07-12-2007 at 06:56 AM. |

Re: Power Brake Push Rod question ....
the pedal rod should set very close to flush at the firewall, just the eyelet sticks thru, with the pedal fulley up (return position)

Re: Power Brake Push Rod question ....
Thanks Rat ... I am using everything for a 1/2 ton, but for some reason it seems short.
Ok, next question ... does the push rod bolt directly to the pedal arm by way of a shoulder bolt? Or is there another piece that bolts between the two? Many Thanks Rat ... you have been a great help! |

Re: Power Brake Push Rod question ....
you can see in the last picture the rod bolts to the pedal with a shoulder bolt. the rod is adjustable by loosing the lock nut. but you do need to take it loose from one end or the other to turn it.
can you post some pictures of what you have. that would help us see if you got the wrong stuff. |
