Question 67-71 back half in a 47-53?

Im new to the site and would like to say hello to everyone, the site is great and has been a big help already. Now with the question, I would like to back half a 67-71 half ton with the coil spring/trailing arm rear end and mate it with my 53 half ton. Has any one done this swap before? Is there a better option than this? Right now i have a 70 nova rear end with leaf springs and would like to get away from the leaf springs. Any help would be appreciated thanks Ty.

Can't say that I can answer your question. But I can say from South Texas!

I have heard of using the newer crossmember in the older frame to allow installing the coil springs and trailing arm setup.

you could use the trailing arm suspension with some modifications but i think a 4 link or tri 4 link would be a better option.

Thanks for the input guys its much appreciated, and as much as i would like to go with a 4 link setup i am a college student with a resticted budget, so i was hoping to get away with a cheap back half.

It might be simpler (or not) to just find a complete 60-72 roller and put your cab and bed on it.

If the back-half is the route you want to take...ANYTHING is possible. MEASURE, MEASURE, MEASURE then cut.

Another option might be to modify the trailing arm crossmember to fit your uncut frame.
