Vacuum Gauge mod?
Maybe this is a dump question but what the heck.
Could a factory vac gauge be modified to read boost? I've never seen a vac gauge up close and personal and have know idea. Though I love all these aftermarket gauge setups, there's still something really cool about a brandnew looking loaded factory gauge setup.

Talking about boost, aren't you talking about pressure? Not familiar with it, so I'm not sure. If boost is pressure, why not just put a pressure gauge in?

boost as in turbo boost??? but i dont see why not but then im not exactly sure how the gauges work but i do know that they read sucktion and not pressure but im sure you could modify to read pressure and i agree that it would be awesome to have the stock gauges still in there working with the new stuff

You're trying to change a gauge that reads off of negative forces and make it read positive forces.
Just get an air pressure gauge off of an c50 or so.

Boost as in positive pressure......I understand gauges.
I'm just not familar with the mechanics of the factory vacuum guage and if it could be converted or not. I did think about the pressure gauge, but doesn't it read much higher air pressure than say 6-7 psi (blower boost). Probably would make more sense to try and modify one of them instead of a vacuum gauge. I've seen the vacuum gauge setup for sale by some venders, but no air pressure gauges.....any ideas?...or do I have to find one of the large trucks with one? I could get just a gauge, but then it doesn't match the rest and I'm not crazy about doing the complete aftermarket gauge conversion. Like I said before, I like the look of a restored cluster.

There is also an air gauge from larger trucks...measured air pressure for brakes...

Jim I have a few air gauges. Some that do not work,but yyou would have the mechanicals to see what it would take to modify it.I think the biggest hurdle would be to reduce the pressure needed to move the needle as the air gauges do not start to read until about 40 lbs.

I think i know what he was asking he was asking what was the Vacuum Gauge used for well lets put it this way i rather have a Vacuum Gauge over a oil gauge and a temp gauge cus it will tell you when the engine is almost ready to take a dump or take a **** or blow up Vacuum Gauge tell you have much Vacuum is in the eng if its to high your engine your enging is pressureing the bottom end which means somthing is plug if its to low you have a leak you have blow bye or the intake or the power brake unit just got a rip in it in the booster it self most big trucks have Vacuum Gauges and they really work and if you ever have one that like to bounce or go back and forth to 0--100 get ready for a lot of noise
