i am looking at a truck 72 that had the orgi. tailgate stolen about 10 or so years ago long story. anyhow the owner found out it was a boy that was helping him on the farm . he went and talked with the boys dad and the dad told the man to go to the local gm dealer and buy a new one . at that time it was $469.00 and the boys dad paid for it to keep the son out of trouble. anyhow the guy did not use the truck much after the new tailgate was put on. it has some scratches but i did not see any rust other than maybe a little very light surface rust . i i did not see any dents/dings it was very nice and straight it does have the trim that runs on both sides of the tailgate handle.so what do you guys think it would be worth? thanks

Last year I saw two original "take-off" tailgates sell for $350 and $400. One had some paint wear the other was nearly perfect.

Is it still factory primed?I recently sold a n.o.s. gate with the slightest surface rust and a small bit of pitting in one corner for $500 in a package deal.I`d say around $300-$350 would be fair.

350-400 seems the going rate, 500+ for NOS, I can't afford it though...
