wTB Power Brake Booster setup

My right leg needs a break from all the hard work stopping my manual drum braked truck! I would like to buy a stock power brake booster setup for my 67 drum/drum truck. Doesn't need to have the master cylinder but must have all the brackets and linkages/connecting rods needed and be in good working order and you must be able to ship internationally to the UK. I thought I had a deal a couple of months ago but the seller dissappeared off the face of the earth after promising to get me a shipping cost. Obviously these things don't really appear in junkyards over here!

I'm happy to take something that needs paint!

Thanks
Phil

Thanks, appreciate that. After driving a friends '68 Impala 427SS with power drums I have to do this as the difference was night and day!

Re: wTB Power Brake Booster setup

I have one on my '67 C10 that I'm thinking of converting back to stock. Shipping would probably kill the deal though. I paid $75 for the "kit" a couple of years ago and have only driven the truck about 500 miles since. If you want, I can take a junker one down to the Post Office and get an idea on the shipping........Zoomy

Re: wTB Power Brake Booster setup

Zoomy, the £/$ rates good at the moment so I'm happy to pay the shipping if I can find a decent setup. I've got no chance of finding one over here. Is this a factory setup or an aftermarket one? If it's aftermarket how easy was it to fit?

I'm in no great hurry so surface mail would be the cheapest way to send it, I've had a P/S pump and brackets/pulleys sent this way and the price wasn't too bad. Appreciate your trouble.

Re: wTB Power Brake Booster setup

I just purchased a new (rebuilt) MC and booster from autozone for $130 (without a core). If I can find you some brackets then would you rather go that route? I'm trading my booster in ($30 core refund) since I don't know the quality after it sat around for a few years and leaks oil frofm the MC.

I would suggest getting a nice rebuilt one.

Re: wTB Power Brake Booster setup

That'd be a great way to do it if I could get a set of brackets and the push rod etc I'll drop Autozone a mail to see if they'll ship internationally. That way I'd have a new unit essentially rather than something with a 30 odd year old rubber diaphragm.

Re: wTB Power Brake Booster setup

I have a set of the shorter brackets with fulcrum and probably a rod to the pedal. Also has the braces to the firewall. I would like to know the rod length to make sure I send the correct one.

I would like to get rid of this if it works for you. I can measure if you need it done.

My thought is that IF the fulcrum and brackets go together then the movement at the back of the booster will be correct. I would also think the rod(into the cab) would be the same for either bracket set as the distance is the same from the firewall to the pedal. Any thoughts on this?

Shipping is not a problem.

Re: wTB Power Brake Booster setup

the brackets are different between 1/2 ton and 3/4 / 1 ton setups. I would assume that the rodds are different as well.

Re: wTB Power Brake Booster setup

Lippyp's signature indicates a C10. I assume a 1/2T set would work.

Re: wTB Power Brake Booster setup

Yep, it is a C10 1/2 ton. What do you want me to measure? I understand the rod from the pedal to the master/booster is longer than a non boosted setup. Can anyone help just to confirm this and what length the rod should be on a C10 brake booster. Bob, very interested, I've checked with Autozone and they will ship to me in the UK which is great news. I'll have a look on their site today and get a part number for you.
