c10 suspension on a c20 frame
hello all have have a question i have a nice c20 long bed pickup frame and a c10 frame thats bent in the rear
i want to lower my truc. will the C10 suspension bolt onto my frame in all the stock locations? |

I've always wondered this too! Would open up a lot of possibilities on a lot of trucks for me as I have a complete C10 suspension in great shape.

Been told im nuts to bring it back from the dead (still going to happen) plans-all stock with a turbo 292 inline 3 speed column shift. and thats it big block 427 and 5 speed trans and ford 9 inch theyhave no home yet thinking what to put them in and a 79 c60 trash truck um no idea i have one |

How much more rigid is the C20 frame ? Approximately how many pounds heavier is it over the C10 frame ?

I dont thing the frame is really any heavier from 10 to 20 i think its all in the suspention.
Any yes most like likly you would have to chang in the front: spingels and a arms. There might be more but i havent seen a c20 font end. My buddy has a two wheel drive one ton and i have the 2 wheel dive 1/2 ton. Betweemn owr two frmae they look the same what changes is the leaf spring and hanger locations, and front end suspention setup (aka a arm and spindels. His rotor might be digfferent but i havent seen those yet.

1/2 and 3/4 are the same rails, 1 tons got taller rails (3" taller IIRC)
not sure if 3/4 arms and the 3/4 cradle are different though. |

1 ton frames are also narrower

The front will work just not sure exactly what all needs to be converted. I would say spindles, spindles, calipers, upper lower a arms, cross shafts, and possibly the engine crossmember but I don't think so.
One easy way to avoid all that would be a set of springs. Depending on how low you want to lower it. The rear suspension may or may not work without mods. You need to find out the length of the 1/2 ton and 3/4 leafs. They are 52 or 56. Depending on if you want to drill the rivets for the spring perch's you can make either work.

wasnt that only with the chassis cab version i believe these had the straight and narower frames the reason i ask is because im planning on building a 86 C10 around to a dooley and using the C10 frame , if wat you tell me goes for all C30 frames im going to be in trouble

I'm pretty sure it is. I do know that the differentials spring pads are narrower than the 3/4 and 1/2 ton. I came across this when I was looking for a 8 lug 14 bolt ff that would fit in my 1/2 ton. So to make a 1 ton rear work I would need to move the spring pads out wider. I didn't want to mess with all that. So I got one from a 3/4 ton with the frames being the same 1/2 to 3/4.
Probably wouldn't hurt to make a post about it. But if I understand what you are doing right. You would just need to move the spring perches wider. So the rear will be centered with the frame and bolt up to the leafsprings. I take it you are using the stock front end setup and not a c30?

i found out i dont need to worry too mush .
dually axles are wider unless there from a chassis cab truck or a P30 allso found out they make 4 trackwhids (how ever you spell it) by putting the two different types of hub brakedrum setups on the small or long axle . for example you can make a chassis cab dually axle out of the single wheel 14 bold axle from under a pickuptruck if you put the hubs and axles on it from a stock dually rear the with will then go from 66 down to 63 "

i bought my C30 parts today , it looks pretty simulair some bolts mounting the suspension are bigger though .
i wont know for sure until im putting the rolling chassis together
