I recently was a 67-72 guy but have just purchased a '62 C10 shortbox so I will be hanging out around here now. I have a question. The '62 I just bought has a factory tach in it. I was wondering how rare these are and what they're worth. Any help would be awesome. Look forward to hanging out around here.

I know fewer came with a tach, not sure of the numbers or worth?

last time i checked,noone made a repro tach for a 62.if it works i suspect you can get 200 up for it.im always seeing people wanting tachs for 60-63 trucks.

they are fairly rare..are you pulling it?...what are you using to replace, the factorys where part of the entire insert with the speedo etc...

I haven't decided what I'm going to do with it yet. Do they work better than the ones that came in the Impalas? Or are they notorious for not working like they were?

My 62 has a gauge cluster that I pulled from a 63 that has a space for the tach, but no tach, I've thought about putting one...It also has gauges for the oil pressure and the temp instead dummy lights. Is this the one you have? I think it originally came out of a big truck of some sort because it has lights on it that say 'OVER SPEED' and 'TANDEM LOCK'. I know some of the catalogs offer these tachs new, but they say usually list them for 64-66's...Are they the same??

This one has guages (temp, oil pressure, temp, etc), a speedo and a tach in the upper right corner. I haven't seen the tandem lock or over speed. I do believe that the '64-'66 tachs are different.

About 2 wks ago there was a new Sun tach with the original box on Epay I can't remember the exact yr I think it was for 62 or 63 and it went for around $500. The 64 GMC i bought has a Sun Super tach with the adjustable needle in the dash, it fits right in the factory position, it looks like its been there a long time. I wonder did the factory use Sun Super tachs?

Mine has the Sun....I guess would call it the transmitter box (???) that mounts to the inside of the firewall under the dash.
