i cant win for losin!!!!!!

well i am still having overheating problems. so ive been out all morning tryin to find a problem. well i found more than i wanted to find. i told a buddy of mine that it only overheats when it was being drivin. he said it could be alot of things including a cracked or warped head. turns out that water i thought was condensation wasent, it was coolant. so i guess i have a cracked head. could a blown head gasket do that too?

Re: i cant win for losin!!!!!!

well it was a blown head gasket. me and a buddy fixed it. what a pain in the a**. but its still overheating. ive got an old radiator from a 65 and im gonna put that in there and see if it still overheats, but that one has a small leak and alumaseal wont fix it. if that fixes it then im gonna buy a new radiator. right now my truck has a IL6 radiator in it, so i think its too small. anyways, ill let ya know what happens. thanks for the help.

Re: i cant win for losin!!!!!!

It is possible the old radiator is clogged up and their is not enough coolant flowing.. I would not drive it with the old radiator.. I think if you want an aluminun radiator will fit if you get an application that fits in a nova.. I am not 100% sure of this and yes some fab work will have to be done.. I will be getting one for mine and will probably sell my old/new radiator with electric fan attached but may save it just in case i get another old truck...

Re: i cant win for losin!!!!!!

I used an even cheaper universal one from summit, fit perfectly in the lower mounts, just had to fab up some simple L-shaped upper brakets.
Its a very nice fit, top sits flush with radiator support.

heres a pic before the upper brakets. I just bolted the brakets where those two existing bolts are on top. Its not a very pretty setup, but it works, and cools very well.

Re: i cant win for losin!!!!!!

I think my Rock-a-Billy must have an original 6-cyl radiator....It's small and narrow, and has a single arm mount on top. Is it in fact a 6-cyl radiator ??

It run nice and cool with the funky 4-blade fan with the stock 350...not sure what will happen after, with the few mods done to it.

Thats a darn good price for an aluminum radiator....cheaper than you can usually get a standard new V-8 Radiator....I use Summit alot

Summits universals don't have tranny coolers in them.. Seeing I am running an automatic I need the cooler... I will be running a radiator and a seperate cooler with fan in my truck...
