Hey guys! Can you please tell me which year frames will swap out? Son has a '67 swb Step K10 and the frame MAY need to be replaced. Husband thinks it's salvagable, but we've got a lead on one in better shape. Thanks!

67-72 Are all interchangeable as far as being able to make it work without any major changes. The 67 and maybe 68's have different rear springs than the 69-72's and the frame rails are a little different were the steering box bolts up, the 67' weren't made for a power steering box ( 68's ??? ) Other frames can be used but fab work would be needed.

67-72s will work.67-68 had different spring configurations but with the right spring hangers for the right springs,it will work.Meaning you can use the 67-68 spring hangers,springs,and axle on a 69 -72 frame.Power steering has a different frame than one without it,it can be converted for power steering though.Some have used 73-87 frames but some modifications will be needed.Drop Mudder a pm for that info,he did that.
A real shortbed 67-72 4x4 frame is worth some money and the price of them is high.

We got the nose clip and bed off last night. Tell me what y'all think. Don't hold back....my son will be driving the truck if it's worth salvaging.

These next two show the front driver side. It's been welded after a wreck more than 25 years ago.

My shortbed 4x4 was rusted through along the crossmembers.I fixed it though,after it was welded I bought some extra metal to bolt on the inside of the frame to brace it.As for the front of yours,if you plan on going power steering,some cut out the old frame portion where the steering box goes,and weld in a section of frame from a power steering frame since they are different.You dont have to,you can dimble it,but if the frame needs attention there I would go ahead and weld in a different section for the power steering

LooseScrews listen to what 1969k10stepside says he knows his stuff on these 4x4's. If I were closer to you and you do get a new/replacement frame I would be interested in the rear section of your frame. See It is worth redoing people even want the parts you may take off and replace.

Keep up the GR8 work. IMO almost all are worth saving and there are some real nice trucks on the road today that stated out alot worse than what you have. RJ22

Well...y'all helped with the fears a little bit. I don't know why I don't think it can be done, heck I've seen him work magic on a boat, and he can design anything with wood and fiberglass...metal shouldn't be so far gone that he can't get his hands wet with it. Plus he's got some buddies who may need some cabinets swapped out.

We did name the truck last night. DRTDOBR. We found a HUGE dirt dawber nest on the frame under the bed. They thought it was very appropriate!
