366 tall deck motor questions
I dont know anything about the tall deck motors. I know a guy with one for sale and am looking for a motor for my K30. What are the pros and cons to these motors?

Re: 366 tall deck motor questions
This engine original came in dump trucks, school busses and other medium duty applications. There are built for durability and low end torque and are unwilling to rev much past 4000RPM. The pistons are taller to accommodate an extra ring, thus the tall deck height. They are very tough motors and will last a long time and have lots of stump pulling power, but thats about it. The heads on these motors are not great for making upper RPM power either.
For an engine swap, I would not pursue it just because you could probably do better with a well built 350, 383, 400 small block or even just a standard 396, 454, etc. big block. |

Re: 366 tall deck motor questions
I have a 427 Talldeck. This company sells kits for talldeck motors http://www.speedomotive.com/ps-78-7-...roker-kit.aspx . I am planning to do the 472 or 525 stroker for my Yenko Project Truck. You can get alot of power out of these motors when assembled right.
