Truck to Blazer Swap
I have '72 K10 SWB, that I love, BUT really miss my old Jimmy with the removable top. Here's what I want to do: take everything possible off my truck and put it on a blazer frame and tub. Can some of you veterans please tell me what will not swap/ bolt in. The big things I was wanting to use were axles/ front clip/ bumpers. Will this work and what potential trouble will I have? Please don't tell me to sell the truck and buy a blazer, I've put high quality components in this and that's what I want to use if at all possible. Plus, when I'm done there will be a NICE SWB 4X4 frame, Cab and Fleetside Bed for sale. thanks for the help.

Your rear prop shaft would have to be shorter. I think everything else is identical.

Purs, I remmember your white jimmy from the old blazer net, it was very sharp, as is your 72 k-10 swb, keep us all posted on the progress with your swap.

As far as 2wd frames go, besides being shorter, what are the differences in blazer frames and half ton pickup frames?

The body mounts and the length of frames are different between the Blazers and pickups. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

I'll trade you a blazer frame with matching vin and title for your swb frame and matching vin number and title. I could use the cab and box also. My Blazer has the originak block 350 4bbl still but seized. I was just gonna use it for parts for my suburban if it every dies...lol. The blazer still has the 205 T/C and 350 Automatic, drive shafts, posi rear, 307 gears and gas tank. The body's rotten. Still has a decent double insulated top. I repaired the liftgate a while back and it's good too.
Blazer is near Winnipeg Canada.

Thanks Blazerman. It' Blazers like yours that have made me want to make this swap. How do you like your 2 1/2" lift? I think that's exactly what I want.
Rod, that is tempting but 1385 miles one way!!?? I think my wife will have packed up and left before I made it home.... ![]() |

I am using the skyjacker springs front and rear, I am also using off road design greasable bushings and heavy duty shackles in the front. I also adapted a front stabilizer bar from my old 84 blazer and with the 33" bfg's it now rides and handles better than it did in stock form.
