New Pictures 1975 GMC Rookie
Well, my first try at getting pictures on line was a bit of a challenge. I downloaded 12 pics to find out I can only send 10. Screwed the whole thing up and had to do it over. (Look at 1975 GMC Rookie pics). Don't let that first picture scare you. I didn't have on any makeup. (No underwear either, but that's on a different website. I think the name was sausagefest.com)
I'd actually like to get serious for a brief moment. I'm looking for some ideas to paint the middle section of the truck. maybe go a 'tone or two' darker. The factory tan is very nice but doesn't really pop and I don't want to repaint the whole thing. Maybe some striping. Maybe some camo, oops, I knew I couldn't stay serious for long. Anyhow, we're on our way to Denver this weekend and I look at the weather and it's 29 and snowing. Had to double check and make sure I hadn't looked up Fargo instead of Denver. Let's hear from you creative types on how I can take this paint to a new (improved) level. |

Re: New Pictures 1975 GMC Rookie
Welcome aboard "rookie"...
That's actually a sweet looking truck. When you said "tan" I thought I wouldn't like it, but seeing the pics, it's almost more like caramel - - I really like it. I think it's the condition of the paint that makes the difference for me (and it's a LWB truck ) I'm not a big fan of "tricked out" trucks, but I think your wheels look pretty good too... As for paint colour - I don't really have "the eye", but I think camo would go good. |

Re: New Pictures 1975 GMC Rookie
My preference would be white in the middle, might even consider painting the roof the same color...whatever it is you decide.

Re: New Pictures 1975 GMC Rookie
Maybe try to match the color of the interior as long as your existing pinstripping compliments it.

Re: New Pictures 1975 GMC Rookie
Yes, use the interior color, so what boxrodz said, but keep the darker color between the chrome mouldings - this way even if yer pinstriping ain't quite the right color it'll still look good.

Re: New Pictures 1975 GMC Rookie
I have never seen one of our trucks (73-80), two toned with the darker color in the middle, look good. Now that is just personal preference, but I would have one of the guy photoshop it to see for yourself before you spend the time and money doing so.

Re: New Pictures 1975 GMC Rookie
Jeff was reading my mind.
Here's a couple paint chops of the truck trying to match the interior color: 1st pic - Stock 2nd pic - Painted Side 3rd pic - Painted Side and Top Oh, pics 2 & 3 with just a 'slight' drop.

Re: New Pictures 1975 GMC Rookie
Marcus, do one with a white cove (and maybe roof too)...pleeease.
Maybe even a real light tan, lighter than the main color.

Re: New Pictures 1975 GMC Rookie
Your engine and interior are very nice, I say you either leave it like that or add a brown center!!

A cove white (?) one and a lighter tan one. And, for comparison, the interior-matching one and a pinstrip matching one.

Re: New Pictures 1975 GMC Rookie
I like it with the white and the tan sides... Can you make it so both the top and the sides are in the darker interior color?

Re: New Pictures 1975 GMC Rookie
Boxrodz, I was actually talking about the darker brown color he has in the interior, here's the pic I was looking at:
So really if you can take this pic and paint the sides to match the top that'd be awesome: Cause the green although an interesting combination doesn't quite match the beige of the rest of the truck I think.

Re: New Pictures 1975 GMC Rookie
Thanks for the feedback. I'm currently thinking going a little darker so the center section looks a little 'shaded'. I don't want anything radical (athough I did say I wanted it to 'pop')

Re: New Pictures 1975 GMC Rookie
I know. Every one I've seen has the middle with a contrasting lighter color. I've played with going jet black in the middle but don't quite have the stones to do it..............
