What's this Intake Worth?
I've had this for awhile a never changed over to a 4bbl and wondered what it's worth? When I ran the numbers it said it was from a 78? Corvette, but I can't swear to that. It is aluminum and is EGR. Thanks for the help!

Re: What's this Intake Worth?
I was afraid of that. The more I thought about it the more I began to realize I got bent over when I bought it. Oh well.....

Re: What's this Intake Worth?
I agree with rage'nrat638 on the end water jacket passages looking very pitted and it not being good. Also not alot better performance wise than most other stock 4 barrel intakes.
On the brite side other than that it does seeem in pretty good shape other wise and it very well may be worth some good money to the right person (corvette GUY) I'm not sure what you paid but you may be able to get out from under it a little post an ad in the right place (some kind of corvette place like this truck site)and see. Hope it works out. RJ22 |

Re: What's this Intake Worth?
I paid $50. I asked about those areas when I bought it, but I was told it was left over stuff from when it was blasted. I got it from a friend (so-called) and didn't think he would hose me.

Re: What's this Intake Worth?
Thats a tough one there. I personally would not buy one like it but I would bet if you post it in the right place it will sell for that so I can't really say you got hosed. Your (so called) freind may actually have thought it was a good deal for you at that price. He might not have been trying to do you wrong. Check out this link there one with for days left selling for close to that right now. NOTE I'M SELLING JUST TRYING TO HELP dave2953 out of his situation.

Re: What's this Intake Worth?
Just so I know when I list it, what exactly will the pitting affect? Does it affect how the intake seals?

Re: What's this Intake Worth?
If I was you and I'm not but, anyways mix up some JB weld or better yet get the two part stick of epoxy and slap it over the entire opening. make it smooth and level. It isn't any better than the stock iron? Well, aluminum is WAY better a disapating heat, so given iron or aluminum in the same intake I have the Alum one. If you don't like the fix above, take it to a welding shop and ask them to TIG a bead around the area and file smooth and level. Those back ports only have water to them (not through), so as is, it could cause a water leak into the lifter valley or to the outside top of the manifold. For $50 I'd fix, cause you'll lose money selling it.
