Anybody got pics of 275/60-15 tires on 8" wheels?

I've been rolling the same wheel/tire combo as cliffsta's old truck for a couple years now, 8" Eagle 058 wheels with 255/70-15 tires.

My tires are getting a bit worn out and I've been kicking around the idea of changing the tire size. Anybody got pics of 275/60-15s on an 8" wheel? I'd really like to see how they look.

My truck's a 78 SWB stepside 2wd. Again, very similar to cliffsta's red truck.

Thanks in advance.

Here's a picture turned up via Google search. 275/60 is the ideal tire size for a 15x8 wheel IMO. Shouldn't affect your speedometer calibration a whole lot, assuming the truck was equipped with 235/75-15 from the factory.

Thanks, Blackstone. I got that same one back from a GIS myself. My speedo calibration is already off, so that doesn't bug me much.

I was hoping some of the members would have this combo on their trucks for some info. I've seen 275/60 tires on 15x10 wheels a lot, but I don't know anyone with 15x8 that's running them

I had an old Suburban with thte 275/60's on 8" rally wheels, and they fit just fine. I didn't take any pictures, as that truck was so ugly, it would have broken the camera.

Re: Anybody got pics of 275/60-15 tires on 8" wheels?

It kind of depends on the tire. It is like buying shoes. Two brands in the same size may not fit quite the same.

When I bought my tires, I found that BFG Radial TAs in 255/70/15 looked the same as 275/60/15s from Dunlop. When I compared them in the same size, the Dunlops were noticeably smaller.

That said, I have never seen any 275/60/15 tires on a 8" wheel that looked bad. Some just fit better than others. You will probably be happy with either size.

This pic is of my 8" rallys with the old 255/70/15 BFGs with white letter out:

This is a pic with the new 255/70/15 BFGs mounted blackwall:

I think they are just about the right width for the wheel, but the 275/60s would fit just fine. The sidewalls would just pull in a little bit.

Re: Anybody got pics of 275/60-15 tires on 8" wheels?

They fit fine, had some 275/50s on 15x8 wheels on my car last summer and they looked dead on. 295/50s on 15x8 is already pushing it and will cause lots of sidewall flex during hard cornering, but as long as you don't try to take a 30mph tight turn at 55+ you should be fine, only the center of the tread will wear like the tire's been overinflated.

Are those 10" aftermarket rally wheels? If so, are you running trim rings meant for 8" wheels, or what?

No, they are gm 8" wheels. The factory trim rings I did not like and bought to after market stainless rings that did not go all the way to the wheel.
