Number of leafs

My '87 K10 sits a little high in the back; or maybe low in the front, although I'm pretty sure it's the back. Anyway, the spring pack in the rear has 4 leafs + 2 thick overload springs. From searching posts here, I've never seen anyone say that 2 helper springs are stock, only 4+1, 6+1,...stuff like that. I'm not completely ruling out the front leafs (3 or 4 leafs, can't remember now) because they looked pretty flat and dearched, if not somewhat recurved. Thoughts? Does it sound like someone slipped an extra helper in there? If I can figure how to post pictures here, I'll try to snap some in the next couple of days. Thanks, guys.

Re: Number of leafs

I don't know about the rear, but the front should only have two leafs if it is a half ton.

Re: Number of leafs

The front has 3 leaves. What's the best way to add an inch or two to the front? I am going to be adding 33's, so if I have to level the truck anyway, I wouldn't mind the extra room in the rear.

Re: Number of leafs

usually the rear will have 4+1 overlaod, 5+1, 6+1, 8+1.....

As for the front if you have 3 leafs, then you have the 3/4 ton front leafs
1/2tons had 2, 3/4 had 3, 1 ton still had 3 I think aswell

Re: Number of leafs

Even though there are 3 up front, they look kind of flimsy to me. Are they supposed to be flat/curved slightly downward. I've never seen a leaf sring do that that was in good shape. I suppose they are okay since they both look like that. So the rear has 4+2, not 1; and the front has 3/4 ton leafs. It appears this truck was modified at some point, then. Eh? Any suggestions for raising the front a tick or two?
