junkyard score!!!

I stopped out at my favorite yard on Sat. morn to get a new/used windshield for my 74 which grew a crack over winter storage (bummer). And while I was there I saw the dreaded crusher installed and ready for service. My buddy who owns it said that whatever I wanted I'd better grab this weekend as anything with an "X" on it was going to china. so I spent the majority of Sat and sunday in the rain and wind pullin most of the parts in the pics. Lots of cool stuff including a buck of stuff from a 87 burb (MINT dashpad), tilt w/key and cruise/delay, a/c selector, hubcaps for a 70-75 3/4 4x4 and assorted other classics for the time when I actually will have a garage again (so much fun being laid off as a teacher i tell ya), the two consoles (I think one buick riv 65-67, and the other eary 60's pontiac or olds), set of 5 hole rallys. and many a trim tring and cap. 250 powersttering set up with pulleys, and a couple HEI's for same engine, 4-5 inst clusters for 81-91 trucks including one with a clock, a few am/fm eq cassette radios (to those of us with fond memories of IROC's and Motley Crue, AWESOME for the day so I had to grab them) a MINT am radio found in a truck of a well sacrificed nova and a few other odds and ends.... the 87 burb was even on its side when i pulled hte interior parts and column out of it... interesting endeavour doing that... but anyway, I hated awalking outta there knowing china was calling but i did all i could... and yes, i did get yelled at for not doing some things to get ready for my wedding at the end of june... im over it.. well here are the pics... Can anyone ID the "R" dogdishes????

Re: junkyard score!!!

Thanks gentleman, I havnt done a whole lot of truck stuff lately other than get my 74 out of winter mode.. getting married, new job all that jazz, but I couldnt pass up rescuing parts. Ill try to get some better pics for you folks that wanted them... The interior of that 87 burb was IMACULATE tan with windows locks and the rest... but it was on its side when i got there and the buckets were gone by that point and I just couldnt figure out how to get the door panels off to save them.... anyway, I am trying to save up enough money to purchase that 36K orig 72 i had posted on a while back http://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vboa...d.php?t=225828, so more than likely I will try to get to parting with some of this stuff, HOWEVER the eternal truck guy in me keeps telling me that an 81-87 3/4 4x4 may not be a bad alternative to look for as gas keeps climbing an collectors really havnt taken notice of these trucks yet... jeff, I have some more info for you so I sent you a PM... Guys, Let me know if there is anythign specific you want pics of and ill take care of it...

Re: junkyard score!!!

Thank you for saving all those parts. I remember being at the junk yard with my dad once and I saw a shell of a Suburban. There wasn't much left of it but the the fork lift came over, stabbed it, and carried it over to the crusher. Pretty sad to see.

Re: junkyard score!!!

nope, not going to.. I still havnt even gotten around to really digging through everything yet... although I am experimenting with powerpainting my two battery trays at work, got the 87-81 tray prepped this afternoon, and the 70 i have to do tomorrow... I would encourage anyone to PM me with any questions about anything rather than place it in this thread. This is just giving hope that there are still good parts out there for the hunting, and the rest of it was pure luck... Ive had pretty good sucees finding things for 73-87's, but my 67-72 luck is just plain bad...I have yet to find a set of tow hooks, buckets, bigblocks, air parts, tach dashes or the like yet, and thats after 10 years of looking for parts for my 70 k10 . Ive been able to add more fun options to my 74 than I could ever hope for for my 70. Thats got buckets (factory on the glove box sticker), ps, pb, tilt, cruise, swaybar, 3.73, ralleys, cheyenne tailgate, cheyenne interior, tach dash, 4 core radiator, delco cb radio (out of a 78), sport mirrors and the like... maybe someone upstaris is trying to tell me something .. oh well, Kel and I got a new dig camera for the wedding and ill be revisitng some of those parts tomorrow as ill be starting the brake job on our 68 skylark conv (also for the wedding)... so anywya, im rambling and ill try to have more pics up this weekend.. thanks for the compliments...
