I have a customer that we re-did a heater core for... but his factory heater control valve thats mounted to the heater core is shot... is this needed? can it be deleted or by-passed... or where can I send him to buy a replacement one?

Re: heater control valve on a '58
I am guessing that you can bypass it, but if you direct the water flow to the heater core it will be hot all the time. I have done that on more recent cars. You should be able to hook the two hoses together bypassing the heater core all together. Then when it gets cold again just hook the hoses back to the core.

57-59 were a little different than 55/56 and I only know of 55/56 being reproduced. I think the difference is on the inlet/outlet size.
I ended buying a NOS of eBay for my truck. Just to confirm that this is the part you are looking for. Borrowed this picture from Brother's. http://brothersonlinestore.com/prodi...number=HCV5556
