MP3 CD Changer with RCA
Don't really want to cut the dash on my 77 GMC and I've bene exploring some options for a shaft mount radio.
I've considered the Custom Auto Sound USA-2 radio. I know, they aren't worth the money and the amps are weak. I have a nice 2 channel amp that I can use to drive my kick panel speakers. The matching proprietary CD Changer for the radio is very overpriced, especially for a changer without MP3 capability. What I would like is a stand alone MP3 capable CD changer, since they include the screen/control panel that you can mount anywhere. The problem is, all that i've seen have an internal FM transmitter and no RCA outputs. This really defeats sound quality. Does anyone know of a stand alone MP3 capable CD changer that has RCA outputs? Also, is there any alternative to the Custom Auto Sound radios? I need AM/FM, AUX input, and at least front and rear preamp outputs. |

Custom Auto sound radios are going to kill your SQ anyway...
I can't remember off the top of my head which ones have an RCA connection, but I'll look into it tommorrow if someone doesnt beat me to it...

Thats what I'd like in the way of a CD changer, except with MP3 capability. ________________________________________________________________ On a side note, I will also go for a good brand name used tape deck. I know some high end shaft mount models were made at one point, and most had CD changer control, which can be used with the matching changer OR converted to an AUX input with an adapter. Add in the front and rear pre outs and I will be happy. I have an old kenwood tape deck laying around that these features, front and rear pre outs and CD changer control that can be adapter to AUX, but...it's a DIN radio. Any models numbers and brands to look for to get the most recent high end discontinued shaft mount radios ? |

Re: MP3 CD Changer with RCA
Scratch that guys, after a week of thinking about this on and off and considering lots of different ideas I think I finally have a plan where I can have my cake, eat it, and not cut my dash all at reasonable cost. A big write up on the stereo for my 77 GMC is to come! I'll try to document everything the best I can.
