Here's what $500 got me, how did I do?

Just picked up this '77 2wd, engine runs great no rust passenger fender is shot and hood has a kink (it closes fine jus wasnt shut it pic). Transmission doesnt seem to have any forward gear but reverse works great ha ha. Other than the tranny just being bad any ideas why it wont go forward? fluids good. Guy was asking $700 but I got him down to $500, I cant wait to get started on it.

Haha thats what I did last night when I got it off the trailer

It's not the majority favorite here but I'm going to put my 91 blazer clip on it this weekend with any luck. Next week I'll order a flip kit and notch for the rear and start working on the interior, it's kind of gross in their right now.

Re: Here's what $500 got me, how did I do?

i'm with these guys, keep the old front end! i used to hate them too, anything 81+ was better, then i got my 77, and now im in love with the round headlights.

i say throw a 700r4 in it if it has a TH350 in it now. IIRC you move the crossmember back like 1 1/4, and dont even have to do any driveshaft mods.

Ok since we're talking about front end swaps can you put a 81&up fender and use it with a 79 grille? and head lights?

You can't mix-n-match the fenders like your suggesting. You can put a complete clip on but not parts and pieces. They don't work together.

Re: Here's what $500 got me, how did I do?

the pre 80 trucks hood notched in a bit on the sides making the fender about an inch or two shorter then that of 81+. Plus the side markers are different one goes up and down other goes side to side. Id say look for a 73-80 front fender and hood cant be that hard.

Cool project!
I've be looking for a 2WD Blazer for a family rig/boat hauler......can't seem to find one.....

You could do it.....cut the front edge of the older fenders, weld it to the newer style, would take alot of metal work.....

I'd keep the older front end on that Blazer though......square lights are soooooo 80's (UGLY).

You haven't been looking hard enough... (see signature)
Or just click here.
And if you don't like the 80's front end, the 70's clip will just bolt on...

I think it would look better with round headlights, too. He likes it with the other clip, though, and that's what really counts. If he already has the parts on hand, and it needs a hood and fender, it just makes sense to do what he has planned.

I <3 2WD Blazers...
