can i drive my truck without these...
no hood, no fenders, no inner wheel wells.
everything seems fine but the core support flops around alot and going above 10mph it would lean into the fan blade. but those two big rubber mounts below my core support are completely rotten. if i replaced them would it be sturdy enough to drive around town? im just wondering cause i was going to help a friend move some stuff but right now my front end is dismantled, just the radiator, core support and head lights are left on the front. |

Kind of a scary thought... and I just watched The Mexican last night (if you've seen it, think about the trucks running up and down the highway). You might want to run a brace from the top of the core support to the firewall. Or bolt up the fenders if they're apart from the rest of the front clip.

Don't hit anyone. I don't know about CA but here in MI if you have parts missing from your vehicle and get into an accident you are responsible for damage above and beyond what there would have been if all the parts where there. This gets real sticky if there is a person injured or killed.

By the letter of the law, you can't do it.
No front bumper. No turn signals. no headlamps. |

i must say ive never heard that either, but then again i try to stay as far away form the law as possible... i say run a wire from the radiator hold downs at the top to the bumper brackets or a hole in the front of the frame

I drove my truck a little bit like that. I had my headlights in, and a bumper with liscense plate and park lamps(in the bumper) and never got pulled over. I had just a radiator support and wheel tubs.

In response to the above post about "not hitting anyone", just think what kind of damage could be done to the mechanicals in your truck even if you had a minor fender bender.

I drove mine to work and home in las Vegas for a day with no bed and no front clip. My second truck, A 1970 international scout, blew its head gasket while my truck was tore down. Stupid, and I felt like white trash. the truck ran extreamly rough but fine other than that. At a stop light a cop pulled up next to me and scared the crap out of me. But all he did was shake his head and mouth the word "Dumb Ass"
O well, be carefull... Pete

in texas the lights etc are considered part of the safety inspection so you would definately be breaking the law. It comes down to if the cop wants to an ***hole or not. I have gotten away with things like this a few times.

At the very least I'd lash up the turn signals and license plate to a piece of ply and strap em on somewhere in roughly the right location with some big cable ties. Watch out if you're driving behind somebody else as any stones that come up are gonna hit your radiator with nothing to slow them down and maybe punch a hole in it. If you drove like that in the UK you would get pulled and probably fined.

Your begging to be pulled over if you try it. I'd bet on a fine too but I may be wrong.
Would a truck pass a state inpection like that? I seriously doubt it so if not, it shouldn't be driven either. Here in Pa, I know you'd get nailed but your state may be different.
