67/68 front clip on 69-72 c10
I have been searching high and low in so cal for a 67/8 c10. It seems lately i have been coming up with nothing but I have come across the 69 and newer style a little easier. My question is if you have a 69-72 model can you get a pretty close/ acceptable fit with a aftermarket front clip (hood, core support, fenders, etc.) or should i just keep hunting for a solid 67/8 complete truck??? thanks in adbance for the help

Re: 67/68 front clip on 69-72 c10
I'm kicking around doing the same. I like the 69/70 clip, but to me the 67/68 clip looks killer. I believe you'd be better off finding an original clip w/ regards to fit, but I'm no expert on body work.

Re: 67/68 front clip on 69-72 c10
I dont think thats his question....... I think he wanted a factory 67/68 clip, but will settle for after market 69-72 if the fit is good on the aftermarket parts

Re: 67/68 front clip on 69-72 c10
yup everything bolts right up just use the fenders, grille, hood, and support obviously. i'll be doin mine soon enough. i'd say just buy the re-pop stuff if you can't find stock stuff.
have you checked on craigslist?

Re: 67/68 front clip on 69-72 c10
I'd stay as far away as possible from the repop stuff. It's thinner steel and is not made as well for the most part. The original stuff will be much heavier and thicker and will not dent as easily. I just kept an eye out, finally met a guy at the Pomona swap meet that had a front end at home. I met with him and picked it up for $350. They are out there, you just need to be patient. Also, call on any listing on craigslist that says parts for the 67-72 trucks, I have found so many parts that way, just asking what else they have.

Re: 67/68 front clip on 69-72 c10
I agree with mike... I'd rather have original metal, the repro stuff takes a LOT of work to fit it right, and once it's on, it gets dented easily.

Re: 67/68 front clip on 69-72 c10
Yes, but when you add it all up (69-72 truck) plus clean 67-68 sheetmetal, plus paint, plus a few hundred hours of your labor-- well, you get the idea
If you are going to be building a frame-off style , 15-20 k showpiece, you probably aren't worried about those details, but if you're wanting a driver, it would definitely be easier to keep looking for a 67-68 and maybe expand the search to neighboring states.a little. But if you do the later model thing, keep in mind that 71 and 72's have 5 lug wheels and disc brakes (also a plus) |

There's a decent '68 front clip in a Santa Maria junkyard if you're interested - let me know and I'll tell yhou where it is.

I drive by it a couple times a day - it's still there - a white longbed.

Re: 67/68 front clip on 69-72 c10
There's also a '70 front clip right on highway 1 that can be had for free as well, but someone's already taken the doors.

Re: 67/68 front clip on 69-72 c10
I am in my 3rd week of this same build. It is taking a lot more effort to get the new metal (mostly the new doors) to fit to the original but it is better than dealing with rust repair.

Re: 67/68 front clip on 69-72 c10
I did this with original parts from a 68 c30. Make sure to get the right rubber supports for the radiator core support, they are different than the 69-72 rubber supports.

Re: 67/68 front clip on 69-72 c10
67 c30 core support and fenders rotted. Decided to make it GMC, tough finding parts went with LMC. Not easy a lot of fitting and grinding finally got body lines descent . Be prepared to get frustrated and pissed off but it can be done with patients and alcohol.
