Old Green Survived my Neglect
Attached you will find pictures of the first new truck my dad owned. He bought her in May 1972 and we have had it in the family ever since. He gave it to me when I bought my first house with the stipulation that it never be sold and passed on to the oldest, on down the line. Well, I was away in the Navy and then AF and it sat on our farm for many years. I finally got to the point where I could get it fixed up enough to stop the rust and get it to IL where I live now. A friend replaced all the rusty parts and put a quick coat of paint on her and I trailered her here. I plan to get her back to as close to original as I can in the next 2 years or so. My Dad's favorite story was that the only time she rode nice was when it had about 2 tons of stone in the bed. The original shocks are on it. He even kept the original split rims with the original tires(took the off the day he got the truck).
Cool thing (I think) was that I found the original build sheet(Is that what it's called) and the Protect -O-Plate. Anyway, have a look.

Here is an interior view. Yes, there is much work to do. Also, the dates are wrong on all the photos, there were all today.

Welcome!!!
The rustfree toolbox is probably one of the rarest options I have ever seen. Great history on the truck.Hope your great grandson/daughter feels the same about it as you do.

Re: Old Green Survived my Neglect
Looks like a really decent truck, A different set of wheels would really set it off. Was it originaly a two-tone paint scheme? I noticed the holes for the side moldings. Good luck with your project.

Re: Old Green Survived my Neglect
SWEET!
This is a great truck and happy to hear that you are going to restore it To "Factory" original standards. (Dad will be proud.) The history is great due to the documentation and this is what is going to make your truck stand way above the rest. No matter what everyone can relate to a good looking truck that is original or rodded. I had mine out today, cloudy and overcast as I parked it waiting for the wrecker to open I got out to streach my legs and as I walked around, every so often I cast a glance towards the old girl and this magical feeling started to come over me and I thought to myself this is why we do it. Caught up in that moment nothing else mattered or for that matter existed. esll.

Re: Old Green Survived my Neglect
It did not rigianlly have a 2 tone paint scheme, just the olive green. I have all the original moldings in tha garage and I am going to put them on after the body work is all done( winter project). As for the wheels, I am going to put the original split rims back on, whenever I can get back to VA to get them. For now she sits, covered and much better off not sitting in a field.
