350 400 heads
Ok I want to know if I can put 350 heads on my 400. I heard you have to do something to the 350 head to make it work put steam holes in it or something? I know that a 400 is the same block as a 350 and pretty much the same I just want to know if I can put a good set of 350 heads on it. there sure it's much information on 400 engines out there on the internet.

Re: 350 400 heads
Short answer: Yes.
The steam hole is usually drilled, especially if there is going to be much street driving (sorry, i'm more used to racing apps). We drilled the steam holes in our 461 heads when we went from 355 up to 406. Used the head gasket for the 400 as a reference point. I cannot remember the exact size bit to use. I can check on that for ya if no one chimes in. Out of curiosity, What casting # heads do you have? HTH, ymmv Lee Roberson

Re: 350 400 heads
I would let a machine shop drill the holes. If they mess the cylinder head up its on them. Doing it yourself you are out if you mess it up. Maybe practice on a set of junk heads if you really want to do it yourself.
