This question is directed at the vendors here and also anyone that bought a new bumper through the mail.
I won't name the vendor (of which im at my wits end with for this and other things) but I just recieved a repro bumper shipped to me through UPS that was loaded with scratches! This bumper wasn't wrapped in any way, just put in a box with crumpled up newspaper around it. No damage to the box at all so it's not UPS fault. It's obvious that the bumper was rolling around in the box all the way here. Vendors: Is this how you normally ship a shiny new bumper? I doubt it. My other bumper which I bought locally was wrapped in plastic, followed by bubble wrap and another foam wrap around that! (and I carried this one out of the store like this) If anyone bought a bumper through the mail, how was yours shipped? I strongly believe that this bumper was a return as it has chrome peeled up around one of the bolt holes and impressions of the round head of bumper bolts and some silver touch up paint on the inside. Since these are brand new bumpers, I don't think they would have the bolt impressions on a few of the holes. BTW, I have contacted the vendor and they are going to have UPS pick it up. They said they wouldn't send another until the examine this one. They better not even think about blaming me for this mess! Vendors like Wes, GMC Paul, Kingparts will be getting my business from now on.

There is no excuse for that. A similar thing happened to me with a set of door handles. They had alot of fine scratches on them and then I was warned by Paul of the quality this guy sells and have steered clear since. So far I have only purchased from Paul but I have heard good things about some of the other board vendors here and I heard Kingparts gives board members 10% off.

I bought a painted bumper from Wes and it came wrapped in a fairly heavy, multi-ply paper/plastic thingie. It came new, and undamaged (if UPS did one of their famous drop kicks it could have been damaged, however, as the cover wasn't really good for anything except abrasion. I don't know how the chrome bumpers are shipped from wes, but I'd hope there was at least some padding on them since they are probably more prone to scratches than the painted one I got. BTW, I didn't care whether mine was scratched or not since I stripped all the paint and started welding and cutting on it. Hey Wes, did I void my warranty?

Bought one from Paul --year end special---shipped directly from his vender----came with 5 year warranty---wrapped in a waxie, stickey paper protecting the chrome, then bubble wrap, then the box. Arrived perfect. Now just need to get off my dead A@@ and put the thing on. I cought the edge of mine on a lift cable and bent it back just enough to peel the chrome where it mounts to the frame. Then I just kind of drove that side of the bumper up against a tree----BA DA BING, BA DA BOOM!! and it's almost straight!

I received some headers like that -- poorly wrapped and rubbing against each other in the box. Are there any swap meets near you? We have them all the time down here in the Dallas area, and several Chevy truck vendors attend. I got an entire rear bumper kit with brackets, license plate holder, bolts, lamp, etc for $190 (no tax, no shipping) from Kenny's Truck Parts at a recent swap meet. The bumper is triple-plated, guaranteed for 5 years, and looks better than new.

I've bought two front bumpers (GMC style) from Paul with, of course, no problems at all.
I ordered one of those newer style rear bumpers from JC Whitney, thought I'd never do it. It came great, but the brackets didn't fit the frame, even though they said "'71 -'72" on the bracket wrapper. I called and whined, they sent new ones no question. Of course, these didn't fit either, so I just drilled the right holes in the brackets and it fit fine. Shortly thereafter, while pulling a Honda out of a ditch, I bent the new rear bumper up. Bugger!
