Lower A-arms from questions to building
Ok, I am going to reverse cup my lower A-arms like this
But I would like to do it with pipe instead My question is, If I have a 7" bag how big of pipe do I need / how much clearance around the bag Edit: I started this thread to get some questions answered, it has so much good info I decided to take the info in it & build a set for myself Last edited by Spray-Bomb; 08-13-2007 at 01:42 PM. |

Re: Lower A-arm ???
I'd go with 8", but I've never done it. RE7's don't change diameter (supposedly), so you should be good if you run those.

Re: Lower A-arm ???
I'd go for "two fingers" of clearance all the way around. Probably a 10" OD pipe.

Re: Lower A-arm ???
If you haven't done this yet, I am using 8". Te RE7s diameter actually gets smaller as it lifts. I have about 1/2" of clearance. I don't think you could fit anything bigger, 8" almost takes up the whole control arm.

Re: Lower A-arm ???
I'm not finished but here's an idea. I just need to weld the plate to the bottom.

Re: Lower A-arm ???
I made it 3 inches from the top flat surface of the control arm. The bags have a minimum height of 2.8 inches so this will let the arm contact the upper plate before the bag bottoms out. If I wanted good lift I wouldn't do it this way but I'm looking for the lowest ride height I can get.

Re: Lower A-arm ???
There's never a stupid question here. Long story short we go from this height
To this height It's not for everyone, but we enjoy it. You can see more detailed progress in my build thread if you're interested.

Re: Lower A-arm ???
I'm not sure if anyone has done a how-to. I haven't.
I'm not sure about everyone else, but I set mine up with a pocket so I can have an extremely low ride height. A 3" pocket gives me a 3" lower ride height Got any pics of your set up?
