Re: Gm 363?
They were 366 cubic inches and is it worth anything?.Probably not to the average person but you never know till you advertise it for sale

Re: Gm 363?
Those were a big block that were used in the C-60 dump trucks and in school buses I believe. I don't think that they are really worth a whole lot but somebody out there might want it so I'd advertise it for sale and see if anybody wants it before I'd scrap it. ...Joe

Re: Gm 363?
The carb will bolt up. Depending on what type of intake you have you may need an adapter. The distributor, air cleaner assy, alternator will also work. May have to remove the pulley on the alternator if you don't have a serpentine pulley setup. Some of the later 85-87? years had a serpentine and v-belt.

Re: Gm 363?
Thats a Target Master so it's obviously been rebuilt.
The 366 was a tall deck, small bore big block. It's bigger brother, the 427T was a 427 with a tall deck, which made it popular with racers because you could get larger displacements without paying big bucks for a tall deck aftermarket block. The 366 isn't really valued though because the bore is too small for performance purposes. The bore is smaller than that or a small block 350. It IS a very strong motor though. The pistons have an extra ring for durability because they were designed for the C60 medium duty trucks. It's a very low revving motor. The valves float at around 4000 RPM. Tons of torque though If you got it and it's a good running motor with lots of life left, I say run it. It'll be perfect for pushing a highway gears like 3.08's down the road since it's got so much torque. Would be good for towing too. If it's a low miles motor, then it's going to last you a LONG time. |

Re: Gm 363?
I have a 366 in my dually and it runs nice. Nice low end torque but runs outta steam after 3500 rpm. It ctually runs so nice that I dont want to take it out and fix the rear main seal,so I constantly put oil in it!

Re: Gm 363?
Sounds like you live in farm country, so if it is a good running motor and doesn't use oil, should be easy to get rid of as there are a lot of Chevy and GMC trucks that are used as farm truck. Just need to advertise it where farmers and such can see it if you want to get rid of it.

Hey, was'nt tryin to be mean. I was a little confused too b/c long stroke & small bore (relatively) usually means diesel.
