new here
stumbled onto this site awhile back. have posted a few times, and they show up on the forum. But when I get off & go back in, they are gone. Doing something wrong, but don't know what. Think I can help with a few of your questions, as I ordered a 72 Jimmy in late 71, and still have it. Have leaned a little about it in the past 35 years. Glad to see so many others like the old girls also. Thanks for any help posting.

Welcome to the board. A couple times in the past I have written out a reply and then forgot to hit the "Post Quick Reply" or "Submit Reply" button. The post won't save if you forget to hit the reply button.

Re: new here
Thanks for the welcome guys. I'm still trying to figure all this out. It's the first forum I've ever entered into. Only have one shot of the truck in comp. so will try to send it.(if I can figure out how) It's about 12 years ago, but still the same except needs painted again. Now will try to attach it. Will get out with dig. and take some to post. Thanks again for the very nice welcome.

Re: new here
Looks nice! Is that a step/box/ball mount thing on the rear bumper? Never seen one that works with the stock bumper like that!

Re: new here
Welcome from Pacific NW. Your rig looks sweet! Very special to be original owner. Want to hear about decisions you made & options when you ordered it. I.e. Did you trade anything in on it? Wife wanted the 2wd, almost checked dual batteries, etc... More pix please. I love the color - same as my K5

Re: new here
Will try to answer all questions. About the hitch. It was a stock valley hitch in 72. But shortly after I got the truck I put a plate steele 42 gal. tank under it. Filled up all the room to the bumper. So turned the hitch upside down, and built a steele bar cage from it to frame. Then added a 68 camaro part (the brace around the license plate) for more support. have pulled some pretty heavy trailers with it so guess it worked. A word of caution though. Jimmys are spooky pulling heavy trailers. Too short a wheel base, and the trailer wants to pass the truck at times.
And to stomper. I ordered it when I lived in Tucson at Jimmy GMC. Worked at Hughes. Got the Kelly blue book from credit union. Looked up options & prices. Had to use 71 info. as 72 wasn't in book yet. And no I didn't trade anything in. Still have most of the old cars from new. Dealer tried to talk me out of 4 speed. Said it would hurt resale value. That's a laugh. Dealer cost on it was 4500.00. I paid 4700.00. Rear seat only stayed in for about a month, as was always in the way. It's been in storage every since. That's about the only option I messed up on. Other than that I just went down the list and ordered what I wanted on it. Hope that answeres your questions. See ya. |
