rear axle question?

i'm putting a 77 rear axle in my blazer and had to cut the pads off of axle.when do you check pinion angle? relaxed on the springs or do you have to put tires on and set on the ground? what angle should it be at? thanks for the help john.

3 degrees would be very close. If you need more or less you could always use pinion shims.

First = what kind of drive line do you have? CV or no CV?

With CV you can point your pinon directly at the transfer case (full load on springs).

With out you need to get a degree finder/pointer and get your rear pinion/yoke angle with in 2deg of your xfer case flange/yoke. That is the perfect setup but there is a bit of room for error but too much error you will get vibrations from hell.

Oh and full load on the axel before you set and weld your perches on.

no cv just the stock driveline. i got the tires on and sitting down with all the weight on it. so i'll shoot for three or two. it'll havee to wait to get welded intall my next days off. thanks for the help, john
