Wiw 283
The engine is a 283 from a 1966 Chevelle rebuilt 15k miles ago, it runs perfect. Its all stock inside, with an HEI distributor, Weiland 4 barrel intake and a quadrajet carb with electric choke rams horn manafolds.

Re: Wiw 283
I could be interested once you come on a price.So...let me come up with a low-ball number...
I`ll let other give input since I`m expressed an interest. Are you pricing to buy or sell?I need to build a truck for my son and was considering a lil`283. It`s a bit funny selling a good rebuilt motor independantly. No garauntee, can`t prove much,it`s a bit of a crap shoot based on seller`s honesty or on how honest whoever he got it from was.Selling a motor claimed to be rebuilt helps a vehicle sale. But,once it`s out, unless you`re a rebuilder/machinist or have a recipt and a way to show how much use it`s had... I know you know this stuff.I`m just painting the picture.I figure used smallblocks are good for about $300 max.Rebuilt with some low(claimed)mileage would go for $500 or more complete.I can have a motor built by a guy I trust starting at about double that and know it`s fresh.

Re: Wiw 283
Iam going to sell it I am taking it out of my burb and puting a 6.2 diesel in its place. its a good running motor doesnt smoke or any thing. I was going to use it in my firebird but decided to use a 350 tpi motor I have instead. it still in the truck for now but so it can be started but I would like to pull it out soon.
looks like from the ebay it could go from 300 to 600. so I would like to start the ofers around 450 and see what happens. thanks

I would be interested........but no money until Oct. Want to trade? Plus wouldn't be able to pick it up until then either. No trips until I finish healing.
Thanks, Steve |

Re: Wiw 283
Take video with sound of the motor running before you pull it.
Make sure you get the tailpipe picture while revving the engine, video any gagues to prove good oil pressure etc. some digital cameras can do it. It's the next best thing to seeing run. I almost got burn't on a motor I could not see run. Good thing the guy was honest and gave me my $ back. Up here a running 283 would sell for around $300.00 They tend to sit awhile as everyone can get a cheap 350 on every corner

Re: Wiw 283
Bcowan...........with the meds I am on.........feeling isn't a concern!
Earl give me a list............the 68 I was talking about is the green on sitting outside the shop. The one under the shed isn't going anywhere! It has quite a few good panels and I also have a major stash of aftermarket patch panels. The NOS stuff doesn't go anywhere untill I get my projects done, and who knows when that will be. Pm me and let me know, casting #'s and what you need. Thanks, Steve |
