Blazer Gas Tank Conversion

I am thinking about swapping to a tank between the frame rails but I'm wondering if my stock fuel pump will pull that far of a distance. Do I just rubber hose from the tank to the pump? Also, anybody buy a kit from GMCPaul or Classic Heartbeat? Been looking at both and trying to decide which one to get??

Re: Blazer Gas Tank Conversion

The stock fuel pump should be able to pull the fuel seeing that its the same set up on blazers and suburbans. I wouldnt run rubber hose all the way. What i did was use the stock line from the in cab tank and cut it at before the 90 degree angle where it goes inward to wards the tank and got a piece of 3/8 stainless tubing 6 feet long and connect the two lines with a fural(dont know if this is the right spelling) and ran that line all the way to the tank.

Hey thats a good point about the blazers and the 'burbs (edmonton72 we should go for some beers something one of these days)

Anyways, would it still be better to do the upgrade to an electric pump???? or keep the mechanical pump?????

I getting ready to do the same as dave and get the fuel tank out of the cab and between the frame rails.

Re: Blazer Gas Tank Conversion

Your stock mechanical pump will function fine. I just did the swap myself a week or so ago. No need for an electric pump unless that is your desire.

I would stick with the mechanical pump for reliabilty/cost reasons, unless there is a need to upgrade (fuel injection, lots o' horse power)
