Choke ???

I had my stock quadrajet rebuilt and it does great but I am do not know what to do about the choke. It has the factory choke that has a rod that goes to a theromostat on the intake. Well the coil for the thermostat appears to be worn out and I can not get it reconnected properly. The truck will run and start fine but if I drive it say 30 miles and park it it will not start back up because I belive the choke is on and since it is hot will not start unless someone holds choke open. Should I just go to a manual choke set up with a cable or does someone know where I can get the factory(preferred, truck is all stock) setup? This is a 69 with no choke on the dash so again I prefer stock set up. Thanks

Re: Choke ???

I never had any luck finding a choke spring for my 69 so I just disconnected it from the carb and made sure the choke was open all the way. Never had any trouble starting it in the summer. Not sure why yours is staying closed though.

Do you still have the metal cap that goes over the choke coil spring? They tend to get lost. There should be an adjustment on the rod to make sure the choke is open when hot.

Take the breather off and check the choke to see if its just "barely" closed when cold. Then warm it up and see if it opens all the way. If it doesn't, then see if the adjustment needs to be tweaked some.

Re: Choke ???

Did a quick search and found this... Not sure if it's what you need, but looks like these days there's more a selection than when I was looking for mine 15 years ago.
