Should I buy this truck?
1968 CST 4x4, usual rust. all the drive train is intact with a 6 banger. air conditioning is complete. Interior is all there. Truck is very solid considering it is all original (minus hood and bed) it is missing the bed and the hood. has a PTO running out the back. Guy says he used to pull a bush hog with it?
and it has tow hooks on the front... what should it cost me? a ball park price is ok. I know pictures help..... I don't have any.

If that has original transfercase and front axle I would go around 1K given the fact that you will need hood and bed etc.

I know its hard to price one without pictures. It's hard to price one in person. I know I don't see very many 68 4x4s at all. This is a 3/4 ton and would be perfect for a v-8 swap and ? I just don't know...

If I had to do mine over, I would have gone for a body with a lot less need of repair. Floors,rockers etc.etc.etc. replaced from rust damage.....adds up to too many years of work and no play. The mechanical stuff is quick and easy for these trucks. Go by that formula maybe. Ask yourself how long before you have the ride that you went looking for in the first place.

I checked out ebay and as a 4-wheel drive tractor, there was a john deere at $2500, a kubota at $4000, and a "blue" one at $6500. And they didn't even have an air-conditioned cab...I say buy it and post it on ebay as a tractor...Its got a PTO and is used to bush-hoggin'

I`d go around $1,000 or less.If it was complete,a good bit more.But,when you have something with a certain value in roadworthy or close condition is one thing.But,when you want to offload it and leave all the work and investment to the buyer the price should reflect it.Whatever money he gets is a plus.People used to junk stuff like that and it was a service just to haul it off.I`m glad that happens alot less now.
I`m not knocking the truck a bit.I like the way it was built.I bet that`s a 292 in there.They are becoming more desireable everyday.The original drivetrain is a plus in this case.There are people out there that want original.Especially components that are hard to replace.With guys slapping later stuff in these trucks it only makes an unmolested on worthmore,if you can find it.If the truck was all pretty and fixed up in a non-original way,the later stuff would make it more desireable for a driver and could also bring it`s value up.

i don't think a grand is too high. CST, tow hooks, factory a/c on a 6 cyl. does it have buddy buckets by chance? since it's a 3/4 ton a bed is easy to find and a hood shouldn't be to hard to find either. the running gear is an easy swap for disc brakes and a 205 t-case, power steering is also a fairly easy thing to add on.go for it.
