Work'n

Went to the local saw mill to start gathering fire wood for this winter, and thought I would take a picture. This 71' is still working, and looking good doing it.

Re: Work'n
In the west softwood gets burned because that`s about all they have. When I lived in Humbodt Coounty,CA we burned alder, douglas fir and REDWOOD!Yup,that`s what was a growin` so that`s what we was a burnin`.It seems nuts, but we burn white oak, maple, cherry, walnut and alot of other funiture-grade woods.Never cut a live tree for firewood, though. But,what do you think they burn where all there is are scrawny live oaks and huge ponderosa pines? That`s what we burned in northern AZ.If you know what you`re doing you can keep the creosote from building up.I still heat with wood and have for 30 years +/-.Anyone anywhere whatever wood they`re using had better know what they`re doing if they burn wood regularly or they`re not going to have antyhing to heat.

Re: Work'n
Thanks for some of your concerns about the "soft wood", but it is mostley Blue Spruce, and has little sap in it. My chimney is inspected twice a season, and cleaned when needed. Any who, I am impressed with the way this 4 inch lift carries the weight. The rear is all spring with no blocks. My Super Duty with a 6 1/2 foot box, loaded with the same wood, almost touches the overloads.
