tailgate to barn doors

Are all the provisions for barn doors on a burb that came with a tail gate? Is it a straight forward swap?

Re: tailgate to barn doors

I think it's easier to swap from tailgate to barn doors, simply cause of the rear lower panel where the hinges for tail-gate are.If you go from barn to tail then you have to change the lower rear panel.Other than that it can be done.

Re: tailgate to barn doors

Everything is there to go from gates to barns. I believe the other direction is more difficult requiring a new upper roof section for the lifgate hinge pockets (at least that's the case on panels).

You could always do this (link to Wes's project):

Quit beating around the bush, you have a long range goal to go nab that Safe, and you know that cherry picker will roll up closer with barn doors

Sorry, I didn't see your question when I responded earlier.
I don't own the burb yet, the seller has mentioned a small amount of rust and the tailgate has a little metal damage on it to, but not bad. He'll also be throwing in a nice gate too.
I already have a guy local offering up some doors in trade, he didn't mention the condition, plus, the parts truck I'll be getting in the sale of the burb also has 'salvagable' barn doors on it. So i think between the sets that big blue 72 has, and the parts truck... I should be set.
However, I suspect you are more interested in my leftover parts, so I'll have to see what I have left over, and how much of it is actually worth owning/selling/keeping.

Re: tailgate to barn doors

It is a straight forward swap except for getting the drivers side lower hinge off. I have ended up having to loosen the body mount bolts and raise the body to get it out.
On every burb I had and have (67-72) al you had to do was pull the cover plugs and all the mounting points are there.
You do have to fab/weld some brackets or mounts in the middle for the door latch
