Basic rearend issues
When i bought my blazer, the PO mentioned replacing the rear ring and pinion last year. It works well, and i have taken the thing on a couple of semi long trips (2 or 300 miles) - makes no noises, but -- i tried to verify if it had posi or not by power-braking it, and the LEFT rear tire left the mark , not the right rear , or both
Anybody have any idea? Like i said before, there have been no performance issues in everyday driving. Last edited by streetstar; 08-29-2007 at 12:03 AM. |

Re: Basic rearend issues
Sounds like a typical open rear end. A one leg wonder.

Re: Basic rearend issues
I know, but in an open rear end, isnt it usually the right rear that spins?

Re: Basic rearend issues
just depends on what one is easier to spin.example ice in the winter time under on rear tire that on with spin easier.wet pavement under on side ,small pebble under one side well will determine which side will break loose.Up here in the winter time if you spin in the ice with an open diff sometimes appling the e-brake lightly is enough to causes the other tire in spin and grab enough traction to get you out.

Re: Basic rearend issues
Okay - that explains it then i guess ---- maybe its just different weight distribution or the road surface or whatever that causes the left to spin instead of the right ---- i would go try again, but BFG A/T's aint cheap
