Frame interchange?
I have finally given up on finding a good 77-80 replacement frame for my 78 K5. The only good frames that I have been able to find have been later model frames. The one that I purchased is an 84.
The body mounts appear to be in the same places, but they require different body mount kits. Can anyone tell me what I need to do to use this frame under my 78 body tub? |

Re: Frame interchange?
The differences are in the mounts themselves. Take a look at LMC's catalog page for the body mount kits. They have a good drawing that shows the differences betwen the years. Basically, the body mounts in position 1,2,3 (positions starting at the core support going to the rear) differ between the years, but they are in the same place. You should be able to mix and match based on the frame and body you are going to put together.

Re: Frame interchange?
Does the 78 have the middle body mounts (ones behind the front seat) mounted on the crossmember or the ears on the frame rails so they are mounted outside the frame?
