Input on my first project '66
So here is my new chevy I just bought the other day.....$1600. Good or bad on the price? This is my first project and wanted some ideas. On top of that I really dont know exactly what model it is; all I know is '66 327 V8 with new dual exhaust and there is a cord on the bed which would most likely make it a custom camper but not too sure. It is also hard to find parts for it all I ever see is either C-10, 20, or 30
If anyone could help with either info on the truck and/or ideas for a rebuild that would be awesome. Last edited by bolton66chev; 09-13-2007 at 10:07 PM. Reason: new title |

Re: !Check out the new TRUCK!
nice snag. 62-66's are easier to find parts for than a 60. check lmc, ebay, and craigslist. i think that the custom campers were c20's if my memory serves correct. if you go the ebay route, for search options in the year block type 1962 through 1966, and in the keyword(s) type truck and the make just type chevy. and craigslist type c10, c20, and of coarse chevy truck

Re: !Check out the new TRUCK!
Nice truck and a good price too. The custom camper option was a 3/4 ton C20 with extras like the big mirrors, overload springs and clearance lites on top the cab. Chevy even made a camper that could be ordered on the truck also. Great find. Welcome to the group.

Re: !Check out the new TRUCK!
Great find for a first project. 1966 model is the last of the series and the most refined. You have a very original 3/4 ton with a great set of custom options and a great powertrain, the 327 and the th400. Just remember it was not built by the factory to be a street rod, but built to haul a camper with ease. Please show a photo of the "service indentification parts" decal located on the inside of glove box to learn all of the options installed at factory.

Re: !Check out the new TRUCK!
If you have the orginal seat still in the truck you may find the orginal build sheet under the springs on the back and bottom of the seat.

Re: !Check out the new TRUCK!
Nice rig. Here are a few photos of my '66 Chevy C20 Custom Camper. Every part on this truck is interchangable with the '64-'66 Chevy C10, C20, K10 and K20, with the exception of some of the suspension parts and the emblems.
Enjoy and welcome to the forum from Kansas City, KS. Tony |
